PRODUCTION OF OMEGA-HYDROXYALKANAL

摘要

PURPOSE: To easily obtain the subject compound oxidized exclusively at one terminal and useful for the synthesis of a musk-type perfume by oxidizing a straight-chain terminal diol with a yeast of the genus Candida having alcohol oxidizing capability. CONSTITUTION: The objectiveω-hydroxyalkanal is produced by oxidizing one terminal of (A) a <=9C (preferably a 7-9C) straight-chain terminal diol with (B) the cell of a yeast of the genus Candida having alcohol oxidizing capability, especially preferably Candida boidinii SAO51 (FERM BP-4893). The culture of the yeast cell is preferably carried out by finally using exclusively methanol as a carbon source. The culture is carried out under aerobic condition at about 20-30 deg.C under shaking or stirring at an initial pH of about 4-7 and maintaining the pH at about 4-6 thereafter. The component A is e.g. 1,7-heptanediol.
