PURPOSE: To provide a recording solution having excellent printing quality, high concentration of a recorded image, excellent light resistance, water resistance and color tone of recorded image and improved long-term shelf stability even in the case of recording on ordinary paper, containing a coloring matter having a specific structure and an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION: This recording solution contains (A) a coloring matter of formula I [R1 to R6 are each a 1-6C alkyl, a halogen, etc.; (m) and (n) are etch 0-2; X1 and X2 are each OR7 (R7 is H, a 1-8C alkyl, etc.); Y is a group of formula II or formula III; (d) and (e) are each 1-6), etc.] and (B) an aqueous medium (preferably one comprising water and a water-soluble organic solvent such as ethylene glycol). The amount of the component A is preferably 2-4wt.% based on the whole amount of the recording solution. The amount of the water- soluble organic solvent is 1-50wt.% and that of water is 45-95wt.% based on the whole amount of the recording solution. The recording solution is preferably mixed with 0.5-5wt.% urea, biuret, etc., or 0.001-5wt.% surfactant based on the whole amount of the recording solution to improve quick-drying properties after printing and printing quality. |
