Prodn. of thermoplastic polymers comprises polymerisation of polymer in a reactor to a predetermined deg. of polymerisation, running off the polycondensed polymer through a die to form strands, cooling the strands at the die exit, cutting into pellets and collecting. The die, at least in the zone of the die bales, is heated and/or cooled to control and adjust the temp.. The heating is by electromagnetic induction and the cooling is either separate or incorporated in the induction coil cooling. At the end or while stopping prodn. the die may be cooled to solidify the polymer within it and prevent further flaw under its own wt.. <IMAGE> |
