Safety handle for doors, windows or cupboards

The mechanism has a shaft (3) and a handle (1) which activates a locking mechanism with a square rod (7). The housing for the rod (7) is large enough to allow the mechanism to rotate freely around it. A slot links the housing for the square rod with a connecting and disconnecting device (2) which moves through the slot. It has a groove (9) through which the rod can pass. Its width is slightly larger than the length (11) of one side of the rod (7). When the connecting device is activated the handle and the square rod are linked so that they rotate together. The connecting device has a spring to ensure it returns to its disconnected position when the handle and the rod do not rotate together.
