The electric machine includes a stator having a first magnetic circuit (CM1) which comprises a group of U-shaped elements (C1,C2,C3) each with first and second sides laminated in a first plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation, spaced out evenly around the axis. A second grouping (C'1,C'2,C'3) has shorter sides and is laminated in a second plane perpendicular to the axis and lies alternately around the axis with the first grouping. A toroidal ferromagnetic element (10), laminated perpendicular to the axis of rotation, connects magnetically the second sides of both groups while the first sides face the second magnetic circuit (CM2) of the rotor magnets (A1,A'1,A2,A'2,A3,A'3). The global winding (2) lies between the two magnetic circuits.
