Bi-aromatic amide derivs. of formula (I), their salts and their optical and geometric isomers, are new. In (I), Ar is e.g. gp. of formula (a) or (b); Z is e.g. CONR7; R1 is Me, OR6, COR8 etc.; X is H or lower alkyl; and Y is (CH2)n-Me or (CH2)n-R10; or X+Y is e.g. N-O-(CH2)n-R10, CH-(CH2)m-R10, etc.; R2 and R3 are H, OR6 or SR6 (but not simultaneously) or 1-20C alkyl; or R2+R3 is 5- or 6-atom aromatic ring (opt. substd. by Me) opt. contg. O, S, SO or SO2; R4 and R5 are H, halo, lower alkyl or OR6; R6 is H, 1-20C alkyl or COR11; R7 is H or lower alkyl; R8 is H, lower alkyl, N(R')R'' or OR12; R11 are lower alkyl; R10 is e.g. OR6, COR8, N(R')R'', aryl radical (opt. substd.) etc.; R12 is e.g. H, 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aryl etc.; R' and R'' are e.g. H, lower alkyl, aryl (opt. substd.) etc.; or R'+R'' is heterocyclic gp.; m is 1-20; and n is 2-20. |
