A filtration apparatus (10) for use in a filter press comprises a filter plate (11) having an aperture (15) therethrough and filter cloths (16, 17) having similar sized apertures (18, 19), the filter cloth (16, 17) being located respectively on opposite sides of the filter plate (17).
