The image display provides an enlarged image of the display surface of a vehicle instrument at a position in front of the driver in the direct line of sight, using a concave mirror and a semi-reflective mirror. A cylindrical lens allows the head-up image to have an enlargement factor of between 1.2 and 2.5 in the left-to-right direction and an enlargement factor of between 1.2 and 1.6 in the top-to-bottom direction.
