Transfer of dye or pattern to plastics substrate with electric field

In the transfer of dyes or a pattern from transfer material to a substrate contg. plastic, using an electric field, the field strength is at least 2000 V/cm. Also claimed is the appts. used. The field strength is pref. at least 4000 V/cm. The field is generated by 2 electrodes at +25000 V and -25000 V respectively, pref. 5 cm. apart and 5 cm from the substrate. The array is also heated during transfer pref. to 60-80 deg C. After transfer, the substrate is heated pref. to 100-220 deg C using IR radiation.
