Supporting arrangement for generally cylindrical hollow tube

The arrangement has at least one spigot (18), which accepts a generally cylindrical hollow tube (24), and which has an outer surface (72) with an annular recess. A circular reinforcing ring (68) is arranged in the recess. At least one spigot may be made from a metallic alloy, such as an aluminium or magnesium alloy, which does not contain iron. The ring may be made from a metal which does contain iron, and this may also be a steel alloy. It may be formed in one piece, or may have two prefabricated parts which can be pressed into the recess.
