摘要 The method involves hot combustion gasses passing vertically through a heat exchanger (6) inside a hot water tank. Hot water is taken out of the top of the tank and the return flow is ducted back into the tank by a lower duct (13). A vertical baffle plate (15) is positioned in front of the return flow port to slow the return flow and to reduce the mixing effect with the hot water in the tank. This enables a temperature layer structure to be maintained in the tank for efficient heat transfer from the heat exchanger. The baffle divides the hot water tank into an inner section (16) containing the heat exchanger and a smaller outer section (17) in which the return water is slowed and is allowed to settle to its density level. With cool water layers at the bottom of the tank the bottom of the heat exchanger operates in temperatures below the condensation temperature of the combustion gasses enabling more heat to be extracted from the gasses.
