Sealing of building structures in contact with ground against ingress of unwanted substances

Sealing of structural components in contact with the ground esp. walls (10) penetrated by moisture, against side ingress by undesired substances, is carried out using a sealant in the following new way. Boreholes are made outside the structure which is in contact with the ground. Sealant is injected under pressure into the region of ground surrounding each hole. Pref. sealant is forced into the ground using a lance (20) as it is rammed into, or removed from the hole (18) in overlapping regions. The sealant is a wax emulsion used in mining or a polysilicate. Two or more compatible sealants may be injected, mixed or unmixed. Also claimed is suitable injection equipment.
