Non-contact position sensor for electrophotographic printer

A nonius position sensor is used to determine the position of a tension roller. The sensor includes ten equidistant Hall- effect switches and corresp. magnets. A microprocessor (microP1) is connected to the sensor for evaluation of corresp. position signals. The senor output signals are converted to frequency-independent digital signals (U1,U2) before being transmitted to the microprocessor via a digital data bus (BUS). Alternatively, LEDs or optical markings can be used for position sensing. The Hall switches (H0 to H9) have rectangular sensor surfaces.
