Railway transportation unit for mixed container types

The unit consists of an individual wagon which is linked to others by coupling bars (8). The bars can be extended to permit containers to project over the ends of the wagon, while maintaining the minimum clearance between successive wagons which is necessary for the negotiation of curves. The fixed chassis (10) of the wagon has locking pins corresponding to a container length of 40 feet, and has extending components (12) with locking pins (5) at the ends of its outer longitudinal beams, and which can accept vertical and lateral forces. The components extend jointly with the coupling bar, and the end wagon has buffer plates which extend jointly with a half-length coupling bar.
