A pref. oblong plate is positioned on the underside of the top cupboard, is fixed parallel to the back wall (1) of the kitchen. The storage shelf is held horizontally so that it can be pulled down by fitments (5) so that it is suspended horizontally midway between the lower edge (3) of the top cupboard and the work surface (2). The procedure is reversible for when not in use. The fitments are in the form of flat, vertical discs so that they fit into vertical pockets (7) formed pref. in the sides of the top cupboard to the left and right and beginning from the bottom. At the bottom of the pockets, to the right and left are removable blocks (8) co-operating with support tongues (9) on the top of the discs.
