<p>A process for the preparation of an oxidation catalyst containing an active catalytic material coated in a thin layer on the surface of a solid support, said process comprising the following steps: a) providing an active catalyst precursor containing vanadyl hydrogen phosphate hemihydrate; b) mixing the active catalyst precursor with an organic liquid; c) coating said mixture onto a solid support; d) calcining the catalyst precursor thus coated on the solid support to obtain said active catalytic material and thus to produce a catalyst having a pore radius average of 270 to 2500 angstroms and a percent porosity of at least 30 %, and exhibiting a weight/weight productivity to maleic anhydride of at least 200 g maleic anhydride/hour per kg active catalytic material.</p> |
