Side and gap sealed oil ring

The oil ring has an oil control ring fitting which is inside a groove with an upper side. The fitting has a rail member (92) with a first part having spaced-out ends defining the gap (96). Its second part is radially above the first part and is connected to it. The second part has two complementary ends with a spacing, defining a stepped gap. The stepped gap is offset from the gap in the first part. The offsetting prevents oil passing through the end gap from reaching the groove. The second part is pressed against the upper side of the groove for an effective side seal.
