Pneumatic braking system for motor vehicle with precise vacuum control

A pneumatic braking system for a motor vehicle incorporating ABS/ASR control has a vacuum servo-amplifier (10) and tandem master cylinder (3) supplying the wheel cylinders (10 to 13), the servo being foot-pedal (4) operated via an electromagnetically activated control valve (19). In order to provide a smooth response during all operational phases of the system a vehicle retardation regulator (8) combines a non-linear regulating function having a 3-point characteristic with a linear-proportional integrating module. The resultant signal (SA) is compared with the actual position (SAist) of the magnetic armature operating the control valve (19) and the difference (W) generates an over riding correction (Y) via the position regular (18) independent of the foot pedal (4).
