The device has a housing receiving a pressure medium from a hydraulic pump and an electric motor providing a drive torque in response to a control signal from an electronic control unit, for operating a rotary valve within the housing. The pressure medium is fed to a wheel brake or a pressure reservoir in dependence on the valve position, with the electronic control unit receiving a feedback signal from a rotation sensor representing the actual position of the valve.
