The prodn. of thiocarbonylmethanephosphonic acid diesters of formula (I) comprises reacting the corresp. cyanomethane phosphonic acid diesters (II) with H2S for up to 80 hrs. at 0-150 degrees C under pressure in the presence of a catalyst: R<1>, R<2> = 1-8C (pref. 1-4C) alkyl; or R<1>+R<2> may form a ring. |
