The electrical mains is formed with three-phase with a voltage between them of 100 V. They are phase-shifted by 120 deg. between each other. Between one phase and neutral 230 volts are available. The three phases are termed as L1, L2 and L3. An attempt is made to distribute the single phase loads so that they are of like size between L1 and neutral, L2 and neutral and L3 and neutral. It L1,L2 and L3 are equally loaded, the current is equally distributed between phases, and neutral remains without current. The problem is solved by using a transformer which partly galvanically separates the single phase from the three phases and gives a clean 230 volts. Independently as to how the 230 volts are loaded neutral is without current, but protection is provided with short-circuiting to earth. |
