METHOD OF MANUFACTURING INSULATING BOARDS COMPOSED OF INTERCONNECTED ROD SHAPED MINERAL FIBRE ELEMENTS

A method of manufacturing insulating boards (25) composed of interconnected mineral fibre lamellae (23) comprising converting a melt of mineral fibre forming starting material into fibres (5), supplying a binder to said fibres, causing the fibres to form a fibre web (8). Formed is also secondary fibre web (14) by duplication of the primary fibre web (8) by laying the layers of the primary fibre web (8) cross to the longitudinal direction of the secondary fibre web (14), then cutting the secondary fibre web in the longitudinal direction to form lamellae (23), cutting said lamellae into desired lengths, turning the lamellae (23) 90 about their longitudinal axis and bonding the fibres together to form boards (25). The bonded lamellae (23) having been subjected to a surface compression followed by a longitudinal compression either before or after the secondary fibre web (14) is cut into lamellae (23).
