PURPOSE: To provide an oxygen concn. sensor capable of efficiently heating a detection element (oxygen detection element) in such a state that the air permeability inside of the detection element is ensured. CONSTITUTION: An oxygen concn. sensor 1 is equipped with a cylindrical housing 2 made of a metal and a detection element 4 is arranged in the housing 2. The detection element 4 is formed of a zirconia solid electrolyte and constituted of a tubular element main body 5 closed at one end thereof, the inside electrode 6 formed on the inner surface of the main body 5 and the outside electrode 7 formed on the outer surface thereof. A tubular heater 11 closed at one end thereof is attached to the leading end part of the detection element 4 in a close contact state. First and second electrodes 13, 14 for connecting the heater 11 to a heating power supply 12 are provided to the open end part of the heater 11. The heater 11 has such a structure that a heater pattern or a heater wire is embedded in an air permeable porous base material composed of a ceramic material. |
