PURPOSE: To provide a developing method capable of obtaining a high quality image free of density irregularities. CONSTITUTION: Opposite an image carrier, which moves with an electrostatic- charge image on it, are a plurality of rotatable developing rolls, 1 and 2, each having a cylindrical permanent magnet in which magnetic poles of different polarities are arranged at regular intervals and at a pitch of 5mm or less along its surface in circumferential direction. Magnetic developer 5 is supplied onto each of the developing rolls a and 2. The developing rolls 1 and 2 are rotated and driven so that the image carrier 10 faces one of the developing rolls 1 and 2 on its magnetic poles in the position where they are the nearest to each other, and so that the magnetic poles are opposite in the same developing position and in the position where the image carrier 10 is the nearest to the other developing roll. |
