PURPOSE: To provide a high pressure sodium lamp which can be surely started or restarted without having a starting auxiliary conductor separated from an arc tube even when a shock is applied which is simplified in assembly work, and furthermore which can be lighted by a choke coil type stabilizer at rated 100V. CONSTITUTION: A lamp comprises an arc tube 1 lighted by using a choke coil type ballast 13 with a rated 100V power supply 12 to generate 45V lamp voltage, starting auxiliary conductor 2 arranged to be wound 1.5 turn in an outer wall of this arc tube 1 and a starter having a series circuit of an FEC 5 and a semiconductor switch 10. The starting auxiliary conductor 2 and the starter are connected in series through a thermal switch 4, also to connect these conductor, starter and switch, in parallel to the arc tube 1, arranged in a globe 7, so as to constitute the high pressure sodium lamp. |
