PURPOSE: To provide lithium manganate serving as positive active material capable of remarkably increasing discharging capacity of a lithium secondary battery by adding reducing agent in lithiation of manganese oxide by lithium salt aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION: In lithiation of manganese oxide by lithium salt aqueous solution, reducing agent is added to contain the reducing agent in the manganese oxide, then heat-treatment is conducted to obtain lithium manganate for a lithium secondary battery. As the reducing agent, hydrazine hydrate, hydrazine salt, quaternary amine, and L-ascorbic acid are listed, but hydrazine hydrate and hydrazine salt having relatively small influence in heat-treatment are preferable. The content of the reducing agent is preferably an amount corresponding to reducing 5-20% of the oxidation number of the manganese oxide. |
