PURPOSE: To provide an attitude information detection and transmission device and method for tunnel excavators which is capable of accurately and efficiently transmitting the attitude information of the tip part of an excavator without being affected by the outside and the excavating depth and reducing power consumption as much as possible and method therefor. CONSTITUTION: When an excavating propulsion operation is terminated, an excavating propulsion internal pipe 5 is rotated in a reverse direction one time and is stopped, the mercury switch of a reverse rotation make mechanism 16 is made its on state, the power of the battery of a transmitter 18 is supplied to each part of the transmitter 18 via this mercury switch, the attitude of the tip part of an excavating propulsion pipe 7 is detected and this detected attitude information is transmitted as an ultrasonic pulse signal from the transmission microphone of of the transmitter 18 within the excavating propulsion internal pipe 5. This ultrasonic pulse signal is transmitted up to the close to a start shaft 27 within the excavating propulsion internal pipe 5 by making water as a transmission medium, the signal is received by a reception microphone device 10, the signal is transmitted to the receiver on the ground via a signal cable 24 and the signal is displayed. |
