PURPOSE: To retrieve a similar commodity matching with necessity at the time of retrieval by calculating the similarity of the commodity from similarity information and significance at every item and selecting the similar commodity. CONSTITUTION: The item for which the similarity is to be judged, is weighted by a similarity which a person who executes retrieval intends to retrieve. An input device 53 receives the input of weighting for every item. The input of the detection reference value of similarity which the person who executes retrieval intends to retrieve is received from the input device 53. Commodity information on the commodity whose similarity is to be judged, is taken out from a storage device 54 and similarity masters for every item are read from the storage device 54. Similarity for every item to the commodity which is set, is retrieved. The similarity of the commodity which is taken out, is calculated from retrieved similarity for every item and the weighting of the item which is inputted. The commodity which is to be detected as the similar commodity is selected from the calculated similarity of the commodity and the retrieval reference value of similarity which is inputted. The selected similar commodity is outputted to an output device 52. |
