PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber optical amplifier system in which a signal can be injected used a same amplifying coupler by coupling a lasing fiber, a signal source, a pump source and a photocoupler through an optical fiber, such that the signal is amplified by inductive radiation at the time of passing through the lasing fiber thereby realizing symmetric bilateral amplification. SOLUTION: Pumping illumination from a light source 42 is coupled with a signal at a port D of a coupler through amplifying action thereof. Consequently, the coupler is regulated so as to have a coupling efficiency of 100% for the wavelength of the light source 42 and a coupling efficiency of 0% for the wavelength of an input signal to the port C. A pair of signal wavelengths is fed to an ND:YAG crystal 44 coupled with a fiber 12b. A signal inputted to the port C is amplified in the ND:YAG crystal 44 and coupled with an optical fiber 46, in order to be transmitted through an optical fiber system. |
