PURPOSE: To provide a positioning system by which the position of a mobile station can be decided precisely without precisely synchronizing respective fixed stations in terms of time in order to solve a problem caused by the necessity of the synchronization in terms of time between the respective fixed stations in a system in which the position of the mobile station is decided by the radio- wave arrival time of the fixed stations. CONSTITUTION: A positioning system is constituted of at least three fixed stations A, B, C, of a mobile station M which is provided with only a transmitting function and of a repeater station R (a fixed position) which receives a signal from the mobile station M and which transmits the received signal as it is. A time delay to a certain extent occurs until the repeater station R receives radio waves from the mobile station M so as to transmit them. As a result, the fixed stations detect a signal S directly received from the mobile station M and a signal S through the repeater station in different times. In the positioning system, a position is decided by utilizing the time difference between the two signals detected in the different times. Consequently, the positioning system does not require the synchronization in terms of time between the respective fixed stations. |
