PURPOSE: To reduce a line charge and to listen a speech message from a destination, etc., in a short time at a listenable speed by respectively providing specified storage means and transmission means. CONSTITUTION: A telephone set 1 is provided with a reproducing device 11 reading out a speech signal from the storage means such as a recording tape and an IC memory, etc., for recording the speech message. The device 11 performs standard speed reproduction or high speed reproduction of N times (N is 1 or above) of a standard reproducing speed by a command from a destination telephone set 2. Further, the set 1 is provided with a speech speed conversion device 12 converting a speech speed when the high speed reproduction is performed by the device 11. Then, the device 12 eliminates the speech signal with a soundless section a continuous length of which is a prescribed value or above among the sound signals obtained by the high speed reproduction, and takes time base compression/expansion processing at a compression rate of 1/n or above when the reproducing speed magnification of the device 11 is defined n for the speech signal of a speech section and the speech signal with the soundless section the continuous length of which is the prescribed value or below. |
