PURPOSE: To effectively prevent vermicular image from occurring by specifying a relationship of the surface tensions of an image carrier and intermediate transfer body in use. CONSTITUTION: A visible developed image in color, formed on the photoreceptor (image carrier) 9, is primarily transferred onto the intermediate transfer belt (intermediate transfer body) 19, which moves in an endless form, and this primary transfer image is secondarily transferred to a transfer material 24. Here, the relationship between the surface tensions of of the photoreceptor 9 and intermediate transfer belt 19 in use is regulated to the surface tension of the photoreceptor 9 <= that of the intermediate transfer belt 19. It is preferable that the surface tension of the intermediate transfer belt 19 be <=41dyn/cm and its surface roughness be 0.6-0.9μm (10-points average roughness by JISBO 601). Further, it is preferably that the linear velocity of the photoreceptor 9 be not equal to that of the intermediate transfer belt 19. |
