PREVENTION OR REDUCTION OF THE RELEASE OF AMINE AND N-NITROSAMINE DURING PREPARATION AND USE OF ELASTOMERS

Mono- or multifunctional isothiocyanates of the general formula R - (N=C=S)x wherein R is an organic radical and x is an integer or compound which produce such isothiocyanates under the influence of heat are disclosed for use as inhibitors of amines in vulcanizable elastomer mixtures. The use of the isothiocyanates provides for prevention or at least substantial reduction of the release of Nnitrosamines during manufacture, storage, installation and use of elastomers.
