This installation has been designed to avoid containers or other large-volume devices in which citizens deposit their rubbish from being located on the public highway, since said containers or devices cause a great deal of disruption and make the urban environment unattractive, amongst other drawbacks or problems. The present installation has containers 3a, 3b for the deposit of the waste, but said containers are open and are introduced, for subsequent extraction, in operational cavities 1 made in the public highway, the waste being placed in the containers 3a, 3b via passageways 7a, 7b made in the areas surrounding the cavities 1 or in the removable covers 4 which close them, individual tubular bodies 6 provided with flap doors 8 for receiving the waste being secured over the opening of said passageways. <IMAGE>
