A second harmonic generator including a semiconductor laser as a pumping light source, a solid laser crystal excited by the pumping light source and a resonator having a control element for controlling the wavelength of a first oscillation wave, the fundamental wave, generated from the solid laser crystal and a non-linear optical crystal for converting the first oscillation wave to the second harmonic which is a second oscillation wave. A first laser mirror, the solid laser crystal, the wavelength control element, the non-linear optical crystal and a second laser mirror are disposed in this order from the incidence side of the pumping light, as the constituent components of the resonator.
