A dispenser (10) for dispensing up to approximately one and one-half rolls (42, 43) of flexible sheet material (19). The dispenser (10) includes a dispensing mechanism (30) and a roll transfer and supporting mechanism. The roll transfer and supporting mechanism include a pair of guide tracks (32), a pivotally spring biased sensor plate (38), a pair of opposing reserve roll supports (36), a pair of transfer link (40) each connecting the sensor plate (38) to a respective reserve roll support (36), a support roller (34), and a support surface located below the support roller (34). The guide tracks (32) guide the core ends (45, 46) of the rolls (42, 43) through the dispenser (10). The reserve roll supports (36) are pivotally mounted adjacent the upper end of the guide tracks (32), and hold a roll (43) in a reserve position when a dispensing roll (42) is smaller than a first predetermined diameter and greater than a second predetermined diameter. The pivotally mounted sensor plate (38) senses the diameter of the dispensing roll (42) and is coupled to the reserve roll supports (36), via the transfer links (40), to control the reserve roll supports (36) in accordance with the sensed diameter. |
