A sensor for the amperometric measurement of dissolved H2 in a liq., is claimed. This comprises an exterior casing (4), one extremity of which is sealed by a membrane (6) permeable to H2. The casing contains an electrolyte soln. (5), a Pt indicator electrode (3), and a pseudo-reference electrode (1) comprising a sec. metal: a film oxide is formed on this sec. metal. The electrolyte contains anions which will not de-activate the indicator electrode and have an oxidn. potential greater than that at which the measurement is effected.
