For a surgical clip applicator (1) having a handle grip (2) with an actuating mechanism (4), a shaft tube (6) attached to the handle grip (2), in which is arranged a push rod (8) longitudinally slidable by the actuating mechanism (4) and resettable by spring force, a clip magazine (12) accepting a plurality of clips (10) and arranged in the shaft tube (6), and a movable jaw element (14) for the clips (10), at the distal end (16) of the shaft tube (6) and actuated by the push rod (8), provision is made so that the clip magazine (12) is interchangeably integrated in the shaft tube (6) and contains all mechanical elements (24, 26), except for the push rod drive, for the individual clip transportation of the clips (10) to the jaw element (14), and that the push rod (8) during movement in proximal direction after actuation of the jaw element (14) carries along a transportation slider (24) for the clips (10), which is pretensioned under spring tension in distal direction, initially in proximal direction and effects release upon reaching a predetermined position.
