A process for producing difluoromethane and difluorochloromethane by fluorinating dichloromethane and trichloromethane with hydrogen fluoride in a liquid phase in the presence of a fluorinating catalyst in one and the same reactor at a reaction pressure of 1-20 kg/cm2 and a reaction temperature of 50150 ~C, whereby difluoromethane and difluorochloromethane can be produced in one and the same reactor simultaneously or alternatingly, safely and economically.
