A slidable bolt (1) has a projecting bar (2) with a number of slots (3) along one longitudinal edge. Movement of the bolt under the action of a key drives a male pin (4) by engagement of the slots against a pair of pillars (5) secured to the pin. The pillars engage in a two holes (7) in a female pin which is coaxial with the male pin. The free ends of the pillars contact spacers (9) located at the base of each of the holes, the spacers being inelastically deformable, breakable or separable at a predetermined level of compressive force.
