A device for efficiently and effortlessly squeezing a sponge mop, consisting of a cable (9) connected to a notch (6) in a squeezer plate (2) hinged to a sponge holder (3). Tightening the cable in engagement with an abutment (8) and a roller (10) causes the plate to rotate and compress the sponge (4) to squeeze out the residual water. The sponge consists of two parts defined by a plane (7) with the control cable passing therebetween. Said device is particularly suitable for intensive cleaning work.
