摘要

Prepn. of a dimerised aldehyde comprises subjecting a feed aldehyde to condensation and dehydration in presence of a basic catalyst. The feed aldehyde has 1 or 2 H in the alpha -position, the organic feed stream contg. the feed aldehyde is fed to a reaction distn. column, and condensation and dehydration are carried out at the same time in the column.
