The process involves taking an imprint in an elastomer material from the dried skin of a natural fish, and using the imprint to produce a mould enabling the shape of the fish to be reproduced in a material such as tin or resin. The moulded model, which can be of just one side of the fish, is painted and artificial eyes fitted to give it realism. It can then be mounted on a backing layer (2) with a surrounding wooden frame (3).
