The device has an elongated base (1) with a face (2) fixed to the surface to be protected. The base is moulded as a single piece of plastics material and as a series of modular elements (3). The elements are separated by a weakened zone (18), in the form of a notch. The notch is arranged in the lower face of the base and extends along the length of the base. Four rows of stems (14,15) are fixed to the base in pairs (16), on either side of the central plane (P) of the base. A primary stem (14) is arranged to project roughly perpendicular to the fixing surface of the base. A secondary stem (15) is inclined towards the outside, relative to the primary stem.
