The cartridge which is rectangular in section, enters a similarly shaped receptacle in the moulded plastics dispenser base. A measured quantity of powder is contained in a drawer inserted horizontally immediately under the cartridge. The drawer front (21) has a full-width draw-plate (22) with two holes (23) engaged by bosses (24) on a closely corresponding plate at the front of an operation slide (30). A motor (26) drives through reduction gearing (27) a wheel with an eccentric peg (28) operating in a transverse groove under the slide.
