The device comprises a conveyor belt (1), a tunnel for a microwave field (5), and a plate (7) made from a material which is impervious to microwave energy, located beneath the said conveyor belt and extending over its entire width in the area of the microwave field. Application to baking custard, optionally in combination with infrared heating.
