Adaptor with sliderails for attaching switchgear to mounting rails

An adapter for attaching electrical equipment to the mounting rails of a control and distribution centre is moulded from tough plastic and incorporates a pair of L-section slide rails (5, 6) between which is a serrated rack (8). A switchgear carrier bar (9) has similar L-shaped projections (10, 11) which interlock with the rails (5, 6) to provide a secure attachment whilst at the same time permitting a sliding motion into position. The carrier bars (9) support the various items of switchgear and each has a central hole (17) which accepts the press-in bifurcated stud (15, 16) of an S-shaped spring locking clip (14) whose toothed projection (18) engages with the rack (8) and is released using e.g. a screwdriver in the slots (20) against the clip's spring pressure.
