Exhaust recycling valve for IC engine

The exhaust recycling valve has a solenoid drive (1) operating a plunger (10) to drive a flat profile gate valve (4) over a valve seat comprising a ceramic plate (6) with gas ports. The gate valve is pulled into the closed position by a tension spring and is held against the valve seat by a conical profile spring (12). The solenoid plunger (10) is ducted through a chamber (16) vented by a connection to the inlet manifold. The plunger is sealed via sealing plates at the edge of the chamber. The plunger holes in the sealing plates are smaller than those in the chamber walls.
