Process for the prodn. of low molecular polyether-ol with a content of free starter substance of less than 1 wt. % w.r.t. the total wt. of the polyether-ol, comprises: (i) a base-catalysed addn. reaction of alkylene oxides with hydroxy functional starter substances with a catalyst content of 0.01-0.1 (0.02-0.07) wt.% w.r.t. total wt. of starting materials.
