The cleaning pad comprises two rigid parts (1, 2) which can move relative to each other. A layer of absorbent material (3a, 3b) is attached to the face of each rigid part. This may be made in one piece (3) as a block, with a slot (4) cut in order to separate it into two part branches, one of which is attached to each rigid part. The dip stick can be placed between the two absorbent surfaces of the two rigid plates, and gripped in order to wipe off the liquid prior replacing the dip stick in the reservoir. The absorbent material may be a plastics sponge, paper tissue or other similar material. The absorbent material may provide the elasticity to open the device before the dip stick is gripped within it.
